CALGARY — Yesterday, Travis Toews became the first candidate to submit his nomination to the United Conservative Party (UCP) to become its next leader and the Premier of Alberta.
“This race has already been an incredible experience and opportunity to meet Albertans who are passionate about the future of their province and of our conservative movement,” said Travis Toews. “I’m grateful to receive the support of many of these Albertans in order to run, and I look forward to continuing to listen to them and to share my vision for the future with them.”
Toews submitted his papers to the party office in Calgary late yesterday afternoon. A completed nomination package must include a petition signed by 1,000 UCP members, including 200 from each region: Edmonton, Calgary, northern, central, and southern Alberta.
